Product Description

The Phoenix, from Greek mythology, is a long-lived bird that associated with the element of fire and the Sun and represents the idea that the end is only the beginning.
In classical mythology and ancient legend, the Phoenix was a magical bird that lives for several hundred years, before it dies by bursting into flames.
It is then reborn from the ashes with renewed youth to live through another cycle.

This Phoenix artifact is for renewal, purity, strength, transformation, and purification. The phoenix pendant will help you overcoming darkness and rising to the challenge to become powerful and succeed.

The Phoenix is also an alchemical symbol. It represents the changes during chemical reactions and progression and has to do with the steps of alchemy in the making of the Philosopher’s Stone.

In the known text of antiquity - Treasure of the Alchemists by Paracelsus, the author is using the phrase “alchemical phoenix” while referring to the union of salt, mercury, and sulphur, known as the tria prima or “three principles” in alchemy.

According to Paracelsus, the alchemical phoenix refer to a crisis preceding an awakening, spiritual, or otherwise.

“A phoenix is a mythical bird that has a 500 to 1,000-year life-cycle, near the end of which it builds a nest of myrrh twigs to ignite; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix or phoenix egg arises, reborn anew to live again. The new phoenix is destined to live as long as its old self. In some stories, the new phoenix embalms the ashes of its old self in an egg made of frankincense and myrrh and deposits the egg in the Egyptian city of Heliopolis.” Paracelsus (quoted from several books of antiquity):

The Phoenix as the final stage in the Alchemy process

The alchemical process is sometimes described as a five stages process in which each stage of the process being represented by a different bird.

The Black Crow, White Swan, Peacock, Pelican, and the Phoenix.

The Black Crow sometimes also the Raven is the beginning of the great work of soul alchemy.

The White Swan is stage is when the alchemist begins to experience the inner world as being light filled – the initial inner brightness.

In the Peacock stage, the alchemist has entered into the inner experience of the astral world, which initially appears as ever-shifting patterns of color. This experience is often symbolized in alchemy by the appropriate image of the peacock’s tail with its splendid iridescence of color.

The Pelican stage is the active working with the soul forces. The Pelican is shown stabbing its breast with its beak and nourishing its young with its own blood. The alchemist must enter into a kind of sacrificial relationship with his inner being. He must nourish with his own soul forces, the developing spiritual embryo within.

The Phoenix completes this process of soul development. The Phoenix bird builds its nest which at the same time is its funeral pyre, and then setting it alight cremates itself. But it arises anew from the ashes transformed. Here we have captured the alchemist’s experience of spiritualization, He has integrated his being so much, that he is no longer dependent upon his physical body as a foundation for his being. He now stands upon the sureness of the spiritual – he has in this sense attained the Philosopher’s Stone, the Spiritual core of his being.

Thus we can sketch shortly the process of Soul alchemy, the integration, purification, and transmutation of the soul, as pictured in this series of bird symbols.
